[ He's been here before. In this part of the desert, in this car, in this seat. He's been here before, his arm around a supposedly unconscious man that Meryl had just managed to whallop with several tons of metal. It's distressingly familiar and unfamiliar all at the same time, because this time Vash's panic is running undercurrent to his current state of confusion.
He doesn't remember being here, just a little while ago. The momentum of a car rumbling through the desert as the driver panicks is a familiar echo to the sensation of his stomach sinking as he falls down, down, down, hurtling towards the planet they're currently on.
He has to physically pull himself back into the present, one hand shaking one of Wolfwood's shoulders almost like he's a bad actor, overacting to try and fall back into place. He's done this before, at least once. maybe twice or more. As they hurtle towards the building he knows they'll meet Zazie at, he watches Wolfwood with an intensity that makes it hard to deny that there are other, older, more buried memories trying to resurface. ]
Hey, try and stay awake okay? I've got some water, think you could drink?
[ They could skip the stop. He turns to say something to Meryl, but his attention shifts back to Wolfwood instead, his gaze watching for any indication of consciousness. He's not actually hurt, Vash knows this now, but it's almost hard to believe.
[If there's one thing that Wolfwood had them all fooled about in the beginning, it was his intentions. He knew exactly how to make himself seem like this goofy guy, just a wandering Priest with no plans other than to traverse the dunes finding someone to push the Good Word onto. Meanwhile, everything he did- right down to the moment it happened- was all planned. Even getting "hit" by the van had been planned, as much as he hated that part of the idea. But how else was he supposed to get them to stop without seeming really fucking weird and suspicious about it?
This way, he's a victim, and he's already garnered their sympathy. He's just a Guy, he doesn't mean any harm, etc...he just doesn't know that Vash is already aware of all of that. He knows they're headed right into a trap that Wolfwood was already always going to get them out of.
So when Vash tries to coax him to remain conscious, Wolfwood just sortof...groans in reply. No, you dumbass, I'm dying probably. You gotta get me to the nearest building that looks like it has any signs of life.]

Wolfwood is clearly a better actor than he is. ]
